| Just
to let you know about the upcoming Charity
Summer Ball in aid of the charity
"Ceol For Zambian Children" which will
take place in the Dolmen Hotel,
Carlow on Saturday night, 4th June from
7pm.
The charity, Ceol For Zambian
Children was set up by myself and my
wife last year
following a trip to Lusaka in Zambia. While there we
were introduced to missionaries
who took us to the shanty towns where on
a daily basis, double orphans (due to
the scourge of AIDS) wait at the gates of the church
compounds in the hope of a place in school that day.
The Government charge $30 a
year to attend school and each child must own a pair
of shoes before being accepted
into school. The average monthly wage is $25 and
these orphans obviously cannot
attend school. If they are lucky to get a place in
school, they are guaranteed an
education and a meal a day before returning to
the streets at night. So far, the charity through
various fund raising events
and personal donations have raised almost EUR10,000
and our aim is to raise
EUR30,000 this year. On the 4th of June in the
Dolmen hotel, we are organising
a summer ball to raise money for the charity. The
evening will consist of a
punch reception, five course meal followed by music
with The Cracked Bucket Band,
a local 6 piece band, DJ and of course, late bar !
Tickets are priced at EUR50 and a table of ten is
EUR450. Dress code is lounge
suits (collar and tie). We are appealing to all
those who might like to attend
this very special event on the June bank holiday
weekend. Not only will they be
entertained for the night, but for EUR50, they can
be content in the knowledge
that they are contributing to a very special
cause.
Should anyone
wish to attend this event, or indeed make a personal
contribution, you can contact
Janet Moloney at (087) 2368406. With your help, we
hope this night will be a
tremendous success and that money can be raised for
a very worthy cause.
Yours sincerely,
Gerard Moloney
