Visitors to the show will have the chance to see a number of new pieces including an extract from their most recent and highly successful production ‘Oileán – Celebrating the Blasket Islands’. This piece celebrates and explores Blasket Island living, fifty years after the islands were transferred to the mainland and features the songs and stories of this lost community. Siamsa Tíre, with a cast of 24 traditional singers, dancers and musicians have undertaken the visualisation and awakening of this community in a moving portrayal of human survival.

In keeping with the theme of the week Siamsa Tīre will also perform a piece from their critically acclaimed production “The Rose of Tralee”. Siamsa Tīre are playing in Carlow to co-incide with the Carlow Rose of Tralee selection which takes place on Wednesday, 10th & Thursday, 11th March. The show also features fast moving and exciting dance routines, haunting melodies and songs  from Clann Lir – the story of the Children of Lir and San Am Fadó, a theatrical re-creation in music and dance of what life was like for a rural family in Gaelic speaking Ireland many years ago.
